I honestly can't believe it's been two years since I became a pescatarian. I've surprised myself and my family by lasting this long. Occasionally I do crave meat (especially during holiday gatherings) but I have yet to give into the temptation. It hasn't been exactly easy. I remember when I first started, I felt the constant need to have some kind of seafood to replace meat in my meals. But now I can go days without eating meat or meat substitute. I had to learn different ways to protein, iron and other important nutrients. So here are a few things I've learned along the way:
Protein, Protein, Protein!— Meat isn't the only source of protein. Protein can be found in beans, tofu, quinoa, dairy, and seeds just to name a few Cool it on the carbs— Some replace meat with carbs as a way to fill themselves up. Unless you plan on doing a heck of a lot cardio to burn off the carbs, don't double up. Plan ahead— To avoid just eating anything to satisfy your hunger, plan your meals ahead of time and get everything at once. This also helps save money by making unnecessary Fresh is best— This tip is for all not just pescatarians. It's always best to have fresh fruits and vegetables instead of frozen. Give your body the real deal and processed foods. Happy eating!!! Peace, Danielle
